First Pregnancy Haiku

Pregnancy Poem for A Woman in First Pregnancy - Haiku

To be a mother
It is to love and support
The most precious role

Feeling life within
First a flutter, then a kick
Quite miraculous

Dreams of ballet shoes
Musicians’ instruments
Football and soccer

Pink, blue, or yellow?
Under the sea or zoo-themed?
Too many choices

Will I be prepared?
Clear your mind and ask for help
You are not alone

There’s so much to do
How will I get it all done?
The answer: just breathe

There’s so much to learn
Pages and pages of words
Tiring to read

Cravings unceasing
Tumultuous emotion
What loving partner!

Frequent false alarms
It just can’t be much longer
What an excitement!

Support from others
Endless appreciation
Awaiting the day

The end is nearing
As is a new beginning
Anticipation

The time has now come!
Although it may be painful
You are a mother

A newborn child
Born into an unknown world
Comfort and coddle

Pregnancy and birth
There’s a first time for all things
Parent and child alike

Now a caregiver
A lifelong dedication
To nurture and raise
